The procedure for conducting the operational assessment procedure and granting specific approvals is described in Part GEN, Chapter 2, of the PIAC-OPS procedures “Civil Aviation Procedures and Instructions for Conducting Air Operations”.

In summary, the steps required to obtain specific approval are as follows:

1 Submission of the application and supporting documentation

In order to obtain the specific approvals described below, the applicant shall submit to the AACR the standard application in accordance with the provisions of this PIAC.

2 Application analysis and supporting documentation

The process of reviewing and granting specific approvals involves complementary activities of the departments responsible for flight operations and airworthiness within the AACR.

The documentation supporting the application, submitted by the applicant for analysis and approval to the AACR, must contain the documents provided by the standard applications associated with the specific approvals.

3 Carrying out the training and evaluation of the company's flight personnel

The air operator shall ensure that the activities carried out on the basis of specific approvals will only be carried out by properly trained flight crew.

4 Operational demonstrations
(as the case)

Once the training and assessments have been completed, the air operator shall start conducting operational demonstrations.

Operational demonstrations will be conducted in accordance with AACR-approved procedures and applicable law.

5 Analysis by AACR of the reports prepared by the operator based on operational demonstrations
(as the case)

The analysis reaches at least the following points:

  • how to comply with the procedures declared by the operator and approved by AACR;
  • flight preparation;
  • monitoring the activity by the ybor operations manager;
  • monitoring the activity by the safety officer;
  • the need to amend training programs;
6 Granting specific approval

If the AACR finds that all legal provisions have been complied with, it shall request the air operator to enter all procedures used during the operational demonstrations in the Operations Manual.

With the approval of the Operations Manual, AACR issues the certification document amended accordingly.

Depending on the type of aircraft and the type of operations performed, an air operator may request the following specific approvals:
