Between 11 and 15 November 2013, the ICAO Regional Seminar / Workshop at European Level on Aeronautical Medicine, organized by AACR in collaboration with the National Institute of Aeronautical and Space Medicine (INMAS), took place in Bucharest.

 

The event brought together more than 70 participants from 16 states, representatives of national civil aviation authorities, licensed aeromedical examiners, medical staff of airlines, airline service providers, and airports, and was organized after an absence of more than 10 years. an event on this topic in Europe and for the first time in Romania.

 

At the opening of the seminar, together with Dr. Anthony Evans, Head of the ICAO Department of Aeronautical Medicine, the participants addressed Mr. Cătălin Radu - director of civil aviation within the Ministry of Transport, Mr. Armand Petrescu - general director of AACR, Mrs. Otilia Sava - Secretary of State in the Ministry of National Defense, gen. Prof. Dr. Marian Macri - INMAS commander.

 

The main topics presented were the ICAO requirements for the medical certification of aeronautical personnel and the CAPSCA project on the prevention and management of public health events in civil aviation.

 

The technical visits from the seminar program were organized at ROMATSA and the Higher School of Civil Aviation (simulator sessions), in order to better understand the working environment of traffic controllers and pilots.

 

The importance of organizing this seminar is given both by the need to familiarize with current ICAO studies and requirements for certification of civil aeronautical personnel, and by the importance of preventing the transmission of infectious diseases in the context of increasing air traffic. aeronautical field.
