Autoritatea Aeronautică Civilă Romană

We regret to announce the departure between us, in the last flight, of our colleague Cornel MARINESCU, aged 61 years.

Pilot, with a vast flight experience, Cornel Marinescu graduated from the Military School of Aviation Officers from Bobocu in 1980, with the rank of lieutenant in reserve, to later work as a professional pilot and instructor at the Aeroclub "Aurel Vlaicu" from Clinceni until 1994. He later worked for Air Antares SRL and DacAir.

Since 1998, Cornel MARINESCU has joined the team of flight inspectors of the Romanian Civil Aeronautical Authority. He also flew the plane with which the Romanian Civil Aeronautical Authority executes the in-flight surveillance missions of the radio-navigation means. With a 6-year break in which he chose to gain experience with CarpatAir and Regional Air Services, Cornel Marinescu rejoined the AACR team until 2016. He performed inspection and control missions at the air operators and contributed through his activity to the flight safety supervision in civil aviation.

Until this moment, Cornel MARINESCU has worked as a pilot at AirBucharest and in his free time he chose to participate in various civil aviation demonstrations at Romanian airports.

Cornel MARINESCU was an exemplary colleague, appreciated by all, a good instructor and guide for the young generation and a fan of acrobatic flight. He had qualifications on various types of aircraft: Zlin 526, 726, 50 and 142, Beechcraft 1900D, Dash 8-300, SAAB 340B and B737. In 2000 he also obtained the qualification of test pilot for VLA aircraft at the Mojave Center, California, USA.

It is a great loss for the team of specialists, pilots, instructors of the Romanian civil aviation.

On behalf of the AACR team, we extend our sincere condolences to the family for the loss of their loved one. He will always remain our colleague in our hearts.
