On 08.05.2018 at the Chamber of Deputies took place the meeting between Mr. Liviu Dragnea, President of the Chamber of Deputies and Dr. Fang Liu, Secretary General of the International Civil Aviation Organization based in Montreal, Canada.
During the meeting, Dr. Fang Liu presented the role and place of ICAO in the field of air safety and aviation security globally, as well as the programs and projects coordinated by this body worldwide.
Ms. Dr. Fang Liu explicitly mentioned that Romania is in the top 10 countries in the world in the field of effective implementation of Standards and Recommended Practices contained in the safety annexes of the International Civil Aviation Convention with a percentage of 92.5%.
The President of the Chamber of Deputies, Mr. Liviu Dragnea, expressed the entire support that Romania will give to the ICAO activity as well as to the development of the collaboration relations with this organization. He also mentioned the importance of Romania being part of the next ICAO Council. It was highlighted that our country will continue to invest in transport infrastructure, as well as in aviation.
Dr. Fang Liu thanked Mr. Liviu Dragnea for his hospitality and for organizing under the auspices of the Chamber of Deputies and the Defense, Public Order and National Security Commission the most important ICAO event in the field of cyber security that takes place in Bucharest during 07- May 09, 2018 with the theme The ICAO Europe, Midle East and Africa Summit on Cybersecurity in Civil Aviation.
The particularly good collaboration relations between ICAO and the Romanian Civil Aviation Authority were highlighted by the active role that Mr. Armand Petrescu, General Director of AACR, has in organizing this summit, as well as in planning and carrying out specific audit activities, with Romanian specialists, under the auspices of ICAO.
